Hi! We’re Tania and Alex, a fun-loving couple from Albuquerque, New Mexico. We met through friends during grad school at Florida State University. After two years of long-distance, with Tania at Indiana University and Alex at Boise State University, we finally landed jobs together at the University of New Mexico. We absolutely adore our two fur babies: a precious Shih Tzu (Waffles) and a sweet kitty (Sushi).
Tania is a psychology professor, who teaches about personality and social behavior and researches women’s friendships, competition, hormones, and mental health. Alex is a research scientist who evaluates programs that help people stay out of jail. We love our jobs, and the flexibility would allow us to spend plenty of time at home with our future baby.
We are curious, sweet, cheery, and adventurous. Tania is the more extroverted one, while Alex is more patient and organized. Tania makes the better enchiladas, but Alex wins at baking, especially homemade pizza. Tania is a night owl, and Alex is an early riser, which means he often has to remind her that “it’s past his business hours” when she tries to chat his ear off at night.
Together, we love hiking, camping, traveling, baking, and listening to podcasts. Alex is currently training for a half marathon, while Tania is obsessed with traveling and books every girls’ trip she’s invited to. Most evenings, you’ll find us watching reality TV shows like Love Island, Love Is Blind, Married at First Sight, or The Ultimatum.
If our pets’ names didn’t already give it away, we are true food lovers! Our favorite part of every vacation is looking up menus, deciding which restaurants look best, and choosing what we’ll order before we even arrive.
Unfortunately, after a few years and several unsuccessful embryo transfers, we believe surrogacy is our only hope of becoming parents. We often talk about the life we dream of sharing with our baby, including hiking, camping, singing (not well!), cooking, and lots of adventures. We will forever be grateful for the beautiful person who could help us make this dream a reality.
We hope to form a close bond with our surrogate, join important appointments (Tania is a traveler, after all!) and hear about the little moments (and kicks!) along the way. After delivery, we would love to stay connected, share photos and updates, and make sure our child grows up knowing the remarkable woman who brought them into the world.
