We would like to introduce you to our three-time surrogate, Tabatha. Tabatha is a first-grade teacher from Florida and is currently carrying twins. Tabatha says she became a surrogate for 2 reasons, “I wanted to help a family who couldn’t have children, & while I love my job as a teacher, I do not make enough money to support my boys, as a single mom”.
When starting her current journey, Tabatha discussed with Lauren, Surrogate Matching & Education Director, her optimal surrogacy timeline to try to coordinate with her teacher’s schedule. Tabatha also prefers to carry for first-time parents. To her, it is much sweeter when they hold their baby for the first time.
Tabatha encourages women who are looking at being a surrogate to have a strong support system and to be ready for the tough road ahead. The psych screen at the beginning is just a small piece of what surrogates might not expect. She says a surrogate needs to be a strong person, mentally and emotionally.
She thinks surrogacy is a great option for teachers. The compensation is higher than many salaries and it’s extremely rewarding. Tabatha says “You are helping people have children and giving them an amazing gift. Surrogacy has blessed us financially, given us stability and we have developed some great relationships with our Intended Families & surrogates with my agency. It has been an experience of a lifetime.”
