Meet Sheila & David

We are Sheila & David. Thank you for being here and considering us as potential intended parents for this gestational carrier journey.

A quick bit about us. David is a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, and Sheila works as a Marketing Specialist for a child abuse prevention project within a children’s hospital. We have been together for 11 years, and celebrated 8 years of marriage this past May. We are parents to our seventeen-month-old son, Rhett, whom we adopted in March 2025. Rhett has been the biggest blessing of our lives, and he cannot wait to be a big brother!

Currently, we reside in Jacksonville, FL. However, we will be relocating back to San Diego, CA in September for my husband’s next tour. We will be stationed there for a minimum of two years. With access to the various Naval Bases, we have the opportunity to participate in a variety of family-friendly events and activities throughout the year.

Together, we like to explore new places, especially local history museums, art galleries, zoos, and festivals. We also enjoy going to see a Broadway play or concert from time to time. In the summer, we like going to baseball games, whether it’s cheering on Sheila’s Cincinnati Reds or a local Triple A team. We also love to travel whenever we have the opportunity. Our son Rhett has already been on several roadtrips, over 10 flights, and visited the U.S Virgin Islands; he’s a little adventurer, too!

Sheila’s initial visit with her new cardiologist revealed the first hints of my atrial fibrillation and a reduced long-term outcome if she were to carry a baby naturally. It could be done, but with much higher risks to Sheila and the fetus, something we were not willing to risk. So, we pivoted to the idea of IVF and gestational surrogacy.

It’s really important to us that we connect with our gestational carrier, as we want this experience to be meaningful for all involved. We hope you will be open to sharing your beautiful journey with us – and we’d like to be present for appointments (in-person or video chat) and have open communication within your comfort level; sense of humor is a plus!

Our Christian faith is an important part of who we are and how we approach our family-building journey. The hope is to match with a gestational carrier who shares our perspective on pregnancy and would not choose to terminate the pregnancy unless continuing the pregnancy placed her own life at risk. We understand how important it is for a gestational carrier and intended parents to be aligned on these deeply personal decisions before beginning a journey together.

We understand there are no guarantees in life and have certainly experienced that truth as we’ve navigated this IVF journey.  We may only have one shot at having a biological child and are praying for a miracle in the form of a gestational carrier who wants to join our family-building journey. We go into this next phase with optimism and faith that God will answer our prayers to bring into this world our beautiful baby boy.
