We are, Lorena and Leon, both physicians dedicated to caring for others. We dream of caring for a little one of our own. We share an enormous amount of love for each other and a deep bond that has carried us through the challenges of starting our family.Our journey has been a difficult one. I underwent a uterine myomectomy followed by two failed embryo transfers. Years later, I had a second myomectomy and before moving forward with another round of embryo transfer, I developed thyroid eye disease. The progression of this condition has left me in a position where pregnancy poses serious risks to my health, including potential blindness. These circumstances have led us to surrogacy as a path to parenthood, and we are so grateful to be here.
When thinking about the qualities we hope for in a surrogate, it is important to us that the surrogate engage in a healthy lifestyle in taking great care of herself and the baby. Honesty and open communication are keys to building a trusting and respectful relationship throughout the process.We hope to connect with our surrogate on a meaningful level and to be as involved in the process as she would be comfortable. We would love to attend medical appointments and be there to support her as much as possible while at the same time respecting her need for space and balance.
