After five years of trying (an IVF baby that didn’t make it in 2020), Crystal and Tom found out they were pregnant with their miracle baby and due Christmas day! In early September, Crystal developed severe preeclampsia and delivered their little Christmas miracle at 25 weeks. They named her Everly because they wanted her to remember that she was made forever. Like all people, she was made in the image of God, making her incredibly precious.
Despite the best efforts of her doctors, after 19 days, Everly transitioned from her parents’ arms and into her forever. Although her time was short, her impact was huge, inspiring Mom and Dad to try again. Because carrying another pregnancy is too dangerous for Crystal (and for a future baby), she and Tom are hoping to partner with a gestational carrier to bring a sweet baby into their home.
Crystal and Tom live in Atlanta with their grumpy little chihuahua, Javier. They’ve been married for 9 years, and are crazy about each other. A former high school teacher, Crystal works with a nonprofit to create resources for youth ministries around the country and volunteers with small groups of high school girls at her church. Tom works in marketing for an internet security company (but for security purposes, he can’t tell you which one! ha!) and is one of the nicest humans you’ll ever meet.
Together, they love to travel as often as possible and can’t wait to take their little one to Spain, their very favorite place on Earth.
