Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions

What to Expect When Meeting Your Egg Donor

Did You Know You Can Meet Your Egg Donor? Here’s What That Means for Your Journey

One of the many ways Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions sets itself apart is by offering intended parents (IPs) the option to meet their chosen egg donor—a unique opportunity that adds a deeply personal layer to the family-building journey. While not required, many IPs find this connection meaningful and reassuring. Whether virtually or in person, the meeting is facilitated by one of our team members or a licensed counselor to help ensure a comfortable, supportive experience for everyone involved.

“We know every family’s needs and preferences are different,” says Katy Encalade, Owner and Executive Director. “A face-to-face meeting—virtual or in-person—can help IPs feel more connected and confident. We’ve seen growing interest in these meetings, and now we let all IPs know from the start that this option is available.”

These meetings typically last about 30 minutes and are kept casual and respectful. First names are usually the only personal details exchanged.

What to Expect When Meeting Your Egg Donor

Our goal is to help both IPs and donors walk away from the meeting feeling seen, heard, and excited to move forward. Here are some helpful tips to prepare:

1. Request the Meeting Early

If you’re interested in meeting your donor, let us know as soon as possible. Especially for in-person meetings, planning and scheduling can take time—particularly if travel is involved. Early notice helps avoid unnecessary delays in your journey.

2. It’s a Conversation, Not an Interview

This meeting happens after you’ve selected your donor. It’s not a screening process. Instead, it’s a chance to connect on a human level. Our donors have already provided detailed profiles—including family history, education, personality traits, and even video introductions—so this is simply a chance to build familiarity and comfort.

If you’d like to learn more about a donor before committing to a match, you can always reach out to our team at Match@CreateAHappyFamily.com for additional insights.

3. It’s Okay to Feel Nervous

Many IPs and donors feel anxious beforehand—wondering things like: Will we connect? Will the conversation flow? These worries are completely normal. Fortunately, we often hear afterward that the conversations went much better than expected—some people say they could’ve talked for hours! Trust our facilitators to break the ice and guide the discussion.

4. Have a Few Questions Ready

Coming prepared with a few thoughtful, open-ended questions can help the conversation feel more natural. Here are some ideas to consider:

  • Is there something from her profile you’d like to hear more about—like her family, education, or hobbies?
  • Do you share any common interests or backgrounds that could be a fun connection point?
  • Who is she closest to in her life?
  • What does she enjoy doing in her spare time?
  • What inspired her to become an egg donor?

5. Don’t Be Afraid to Share Your Story

This is your chance to let your donor learn more about you, too. Sharing a little about your life, what led you to this point, and your hopes for your future child can make the meeting more meaningful for both of you. Many donors appreciate seeing the loving, thoughtful family they’re helping to grow.

Ultimately, It’s Your Choice

Meeting your donor is entirely up to you. Some IPs find it an essential part of their journey—others prefer to keep the process more anonymous. Whatever your preference, Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions is here to support your decision and ensure you feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
