Meet Mel & Evan

Meet Mel & Evan: A Love Story, a Second Chance, and a Dream of Parenthood

Some people spend their lives searching for the right person. Evan and Mel found each other and discovered something even bigger: a shared dream of building a family.

Today, they are searching for a surrogate who wants to help make that dream a reality.

If you ask them what matters most in this journey, their answer isn’t complicated.

“Friendly communication is our greatest hope.”

For Evan and Mel, surrogacy is about partnership. Whether it’s a quick text message, a phone call after an appointment, or sharing photos during important milestones, they hope to build a relationship rooted in kindness, trust, and genuine connection.

They are the kind of people who make life feel full.

Mel belongs to both a Mahjong club and a book club. Evan is working toward his pilot’s license and already dreams about the day he can take his son or daughter up in the sky with him. Together, they love traveling, trying new restaurants, hosting friends, and spending time with their two rescue dogs, Duke and Bear.

Duke, a lovable white Labrador, was rescued from a trailer park and has never met a body of water he didn’t want to jump into. Bear, rescued from the streets of Tennessee, is equal parts fluffy, protective, and adored.

Their home is filled with laughter, good food, and probably a debate over what to watch next. Evan leans toward action movies. Mel loves a good romantic comedy. Somehow they both agree on documentaries involving mystery, crime, and anything “murder-ey.”

As Mel jokes, “I promise we are normal.”

Music plays a big role in their lives, too. From Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty to Zach Bryan and Cody Jinks, their playlists are always on. One song seems to follow them everywhere they travel: “Sultans of Swing.” And when it comes to their relationship, Chris Stapleton’s “I Think I’m In Love With You” will always be their song (insert heart-eyes emoji!).

Behind their easygoing personalities is a remarkable amount of heart.

Evan served eight years in the Marine Corps, including deployments to Iraq and Africa. His experiences shaped his belief in unconditional love, wisdom, and breaking unhealthy family patterns. He is determined to become the father he always wished every child could have.

Mel’s path has been equally meaningful. She spent nine years helping raise three stepsons who remain an important part of her life today. Even after her marriage ended, her relationship with those boys never did.

“I’m meant to be a mom,” she says simply.

After losing her mother this past year and navigating life’s unexpected twists, Mel never imagined she would find herself happier than she ever thought possible. Now she gets to share that happiness with Evan, whom she describes as “the best person I have ever met.”

When it comes to parenting, their commitment is unwavering. They are open-minded in many areas (like vaccines) and believe deeply in meeting challenges with love. As they shared, “We are committed to our child beyond words, ” which does mean they would rarely consider termination and only in the most severe of circumstances.

Their future child will be welcomed into a home filled with adventure, compassion, laughter, rescue dogs, travel stories, and parents who have waited, hoped, and prepared for this moment with all their hearts.

Now they are hoping to find the surrogate who will help them get there.
