We are Heidy and Luis, and we are so grateful to be at the point where we can begin this journey. We have been together for 12 years, married for nine, and our relationship is full of love, affection, and respect. We live in the Dominican Republic, but we also have American citizenship and a place to stay in Florida where we will stay during the pregnancy. This will allow us to attend important appointments, share milestones, and be nearby when needed.
Because of infertility and certain family health conditions, pregnancy has been complicated for us. Surrogacy feels like the safest and most hopeful way to grow our family, and we do not take for granted the incredible woman who will help make this dream possible. We will take care of every detail so the journey is honoring, safe, and well-organized.
For us, trust and communication are key. We do not have fixed expectations about how often we should talk. Instead, we would rather have an open conversation with our surrogate and decide what feels right for everyone. We do not want to be intrusive, only present and available. After the delivery, we are open to staying in touch if she would like, but we will also respect it if she prefers some distance.
We value kindness, honesty, and a big heart. We want our surrogate to feel safe, respected, and emotionally supported. We see this as a mutual commitment, and we approach it with responsibility, sensitivity, and deep gratitude.
Outside of the surrogacy process, we love playing ping pong, going to the beach, watching movies, and spending time with family. I (Heidy) love romantic comedies, and Luis enjoys dramas, thrillers, and romantic comedies too. Our beloved pug, Bella, has been with us for 11 years and is our “first child.” We recently moved to a peaceful coastal town where I grew up, just minutes from the beach and close to my family.
This journey is about more than becoming parents. It is about building a meaningful connection with someone who will always hold a special place in our hearts.
