How Surrogate Compensation Works
Every surrogate’s journey is unique, which is why we work closely with you to determine a competitive compensation plan that feels meaningful while also being considerate of the families we serve.

Base Compensation
Unlike many agencies, we allow surrogates to help choose a base compensation that feels right for them.
- Base $55,000; First time carrier
- Base $65,000; Repeat carrier
This base compensation is just the starting point.
Legal Protection of Your Compensation
Your expected compensation is protected through a legally binding Gestational Agreement that clearly outlines your compensation structure and responsibilities.
For your protection, all legal services are provided by independent attorneys rather than in house counsel. This ensures fair, unbiased representation for all parties involved.
Secure and Reliable Payments
Your financial peace of mind is important to us. That is why we use a trusted third party escrow agency, SeedTrust, to manage compensation.
SeedTrust provides:
- Secure handling of funds
- Timely and consistent payments
- Coverage of pregnancy related medical bills
You can move through your journey knowing your payments are safe and reliable.
Insurance Coverage at No Cost to You
Health insurance is often one of the biggest concerns for potential surrogates. If you do not have an existing policy, or if your current policy does not cover pregnancy or surrogacy, the intended parents will cover that cost.
This typically represents a value of $14,000 to $30,000.
In addition, intended parents cover all pregnancy related co pays and deductibles and provide a $250,000 life insurance policy, ensuring your health and financial security throughout the process.
Medical Expenses Covered
As a surrogate, you will never be responsible for pregnancy related medical bills. Intended parents cover all medical expenses associated with the pregnancy from start to finish.
Tax Considerations
We encourage all applicants to speak with a qualified tax professional in the state in which they reside. While surrogate compensation is generally not classified as earned income, tax treatment can vary depending on individual circumstances and state guidelines. A tax professional can help ensure you are fully informed and prepared.
What Can a First Time Surrogate Expect at Our Agency?
Once a gestational agreement is executed, you earn a start-of-cycle bonus and monthly allowance. Combined with your base compensation, that will guarantee at least $63,300 at the beginning of the journey.
And that is just the beginning. Compensation can increase based on experience, benefits, and individual circumstances (bringing your total up to $95,000).
