A Journey Meant to Be: Jarett & Jeremy’s Path to Parenthood
When Jarett and his husband, Jeremy, first partnered with Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions, they anticipated a lengthy wait to find the perfect surrogate match. At the time, they were still working with their egg donor to create embryos and were comfortable with the idea of waiting several months before moving forward.
But fate had other plans.
“It only took four days!” Jarett recalls. “We were on vacation in the Bahamas when we got the call from the agency. They said they might have a match for us. As soon as we got home, we scheduled a Zoom meeting with our potential surrogate, Kiely—and the connection was instant. She checked every box and then some. We truly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect match.”
Shortly after, the first embryo transfer was successful. Jarett and Jeremy, along with Kiely and her husband, Dean, eagerly awaited the first ultrasound. What came next was a complete surprise: twins!
“We had joked about it being twins, but never thought it would actually happen,” Jarett says. “There was only a 3% chance the embryo would split. Dean mentioned that this pregnancy felt different for Kiely—more emotional than her others. Turns out she was carrying two little girls!”
Even before the twin news, Jarett had already been preparing. “I’m the planner,” he says with a smile. “We had already chosen the name Sawyer—something gender-neutral that we both loved. When we learned it was twins, Sutton was the perfect complement. I started ordering doubles of everything on the flight home and even had things monogrammed!”
Delivery day in June 2022 was filled with emotion. Sawyer arrived quickly and without complication. Sutton, however, was delivered via emergency C-section and needed to be resuscitated before being taken to the NICU.
“It was a whirlwind of emotions—joy, fear, concern for Kiely, and everything in between,” Jarett shares. “But once we got into our own room, we held Sawyer and just took it all in. Then came the news that Sutton was stable and we’d be able to see her soon. We were completely overwhelmed with love.”
Today, Jarett and Jeremy are embracing every moment of twin parenthood. “It’s amazing to see their little personalities unfold,” Jarett says. “We guessed Sutton would be the more spirited one since she was always so active—and she is definitely the more vocal of the two. Sawyer is our calm and mellow girl.”
To their surprise (and relief!), both girls started sleeping through the night by three months. But what melts their hearts the most?
“It’s the way they light up when they see us,” Jarett says. “When we walk into the room and they smile and reach out for us… there’s nothing better. Their love is pure, and it’s the best feeling in the world.”
Looking ahead, Jarett says he’s most excited about all the memories they’ll create as a family. “I can’t wait to watch them grow, learn, and come into their own. And as twins, I’m curious to see their bond—whether they’re alike, totally different, or pulling twin pranks on us down the road!”
