In 1988, President Ronald Reagan declared October as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month to acknowledge the grief of bereaved parents and demonstrate support for families who have experienced a tragic loss. Many of the intended parents (IPs) we work with at Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions understand this loss all too well. They are devastated after experiencing one or more miscarriages, and in some cases, even the loss of a child they had already welcomed into the world.
Below are comments from a few IPs who shared their experience.
All the excitement and hope for the future and plans we had made were ripped away. We had never experienced that level of sadness or loss.
I felt distraught, defeated and depressed, but all I wanted to do was try again.
We knew we wanted a family and the only way to achieve it was to keep going. The desire to start a family gave us that strength and drive. We didn’t want to stay in the dark place we were in after our loss.
Finding hope after loss
Even in the midst of heartbreak, IPs can find hope for the future through egg donation and surrogacy. While it may not be the way they planned to have a child, IPs are immensely grateful for the selfless egg donors and surrogates who help them create the family of their dreams.
To give her body, mind and spirit in helping to create our family is the most amazing gift. Our surrogate is a real-life angel on earth.
We are so grateful for our donor’s willingness to provide us with the gift of life. Her role in contributing to our happiness and bringing joy into our lives is so incredibly amazing and fills my heart with so much love.
Meeting our surrogate and her family was one of the best parts of our experience. Not only did she give us our son, but I feel like we gained an extended family. Getting that from this experience when we started our fertility journey is something I never would have expected.
The gratitude we have for our donor is immeasurable. Without her, we wouldn’t have our daughter and the opportunity to experience the joy of parenthood. Our donor will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Creating happy families
At Egg Donor and Surrogate Solutions, our mission is to help IPs create their happy families, and it’s our incredible community of surrogates and donors that enable us to drive our mission forward.
We are experiencing an unprecedented time at our agency with the number of IPs who are waiting to be matched with an egg donor and/or surrogate. Now more than ever, we need the help of generous women who are inspired to help create a family. Most of our team members have been egg donors or surrogates themselves, so we understand the process first-hand and are here to guide and support you throughout the entire journey.
