For Angel, becoming an egg donor was inspired by someone close to her heart: her cousin, Maria.
Seeing someone she loved connected to the world of infertility and family building opened her eyes to a path she had never considered before. What started as curiosity eventually became a life-changing experience that helped multiple families grow while also shaping Angel’s own future.
To date, Angel has completed four egg donation cycles and says she is still considering another one in the future, although she is also looking ahead to having children of her own someday.
When reflecting on her journey, the most meaningful part has always been the impact she was able to make on others.
“Helping other families has been the best part,” Angel shared. “I also loved educating more of my friends and family on the process and infertility.”
Like many donors, Angel admits there were things she wishes she had understood earlier in the process.
“I wish I knew more about the families who were wanting egg donations. I would have donated sooner.”
Throughout her journey, Angel found support in the people closest to her. Her parents, fiancé, his family, and her cousin all knew about her donations and encouraged her along the way. While she chose to keep things more private with extended family members, she found that many friends were supportive and genuinely interested in learning more about the process.
One especially memorable experience came during a donation cycle that took her to Las Vegas. It was her first time visiting the city, and she brought her dad along as her travel companion.
The two spent quality time together exploring the city, enjoying incredible food, and even attending the show, Absinthe. But the moment that stayed with her most happened on surgery day, when the intended parents left flowers and a heartfelt letter for her.
“It helped us bond even more over the egg donor process,” she said.
For Angel, egg donation was never just about compensation. It was about helping create families while also building a stable future for herself.
“I bought a house,” she shared. “I really wanted the stability of a home, and it provided a great down payment while still allowing me to keep money in savings.”
Angel is also honest about the realities of the process. She wants future donors to understand that while egg donation can be incredibly rewarding, it also requires commitment, emotional readiness, and support.
“It isn’t the quickest or easiest process to go through,” she explained. “It’s a time commitment, and there are many physical changes your body will experience before and after the cycle.”
Her advice for anyone considering becoming an egg donor is thoughtful and grounded in experience.
“Be sure that you have a support system and that you are doing this for the right reasons. Be sure you are okay with the children and families potentially reaching out one day. Be sure you are willing to fully commit your time and health to the huge leap of faith and investment these families are making in you.”
She also encourages donors to think carefully about their future and use compensation wisely.
“Set yourself up for a better future.”
When asked what message she would want the families and children she helped create to know, Angel’s answer was heartfelt.
“I am so incredibly touched to be a part of their story. In the ways that I was able to help these families, they helped me just as much.”
She hopes the families she helped are surrounded by love and that one day the children understand just how deeply wanted they were.
Stories like Angel’s are powerful reminders that egg donation is about connection, compassion, and helping families experience the joy of parenthood.
