Meet Adam & Aubrey: a couple committed to parenthood and staying best friends.
When you ask Adam and Aubrey what makes their family work, they don’t start with grand romantic gestures. They start with friendship.
“Our main goal has been to stay best friends.”
It’s surprisingly simple, really. They genuinely enjoy each other’s company. They run errands together, work out together, take walks, eat meals, play games, and somehow make even the most ordinary moments feel like something worth looking forward to. Every single time Aubrey notices the clock says 10:23, she proudly announces, “It’s my birthday!” Without missing a beat, Adam replies, “Happy birthday.” Every. Single. Time. It’s the kind of running joke that probably makes everyone else roll their eyes, but it’s also the kind of thing that quietly says, “I’m still paying attention.”
They’ll also be the first to tell you they’re “boring.” Honestly, they love boring.
Home is their favorite place to be.
Aubrey is exactly the kind of person who makes life interesting. She’s witty, opinionated, deeply curious, and the first to dive into a conversation most people avoid. Psychology, parenting, money, relationships…nothing is off limits. She loves learning, especially from books, and loves people just as much. She describes herself as an open book, someone with big feelings and an even bigger capacity to love. She’s also happiest when she’s making something, whether that’s knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, spinning yarn on a spinning wheel, tackling a DIY house project, or reorganizing a room just because there’s probably a more efficient way to arrange it.
Adam is her perfect counterpart. Thoughtful and steady, he finds joy in learning too, whether that’s history, languages, music, or mastering a new board game. After a stressful day, you’ll often find him happily cooking a meal from scratch, turning dinner into both a creative project and an act of love.
Together, they’re wonderfully ordinary in the very best sense of the word.
Weekends might include neighborhood walks, bowling scores that are more funny than impressive, movies (only if the theater has reclining seats), Broadway shows, or family game nights where Aubrey and Adam do all the work in Stardew Valley while their daughter happily spends all the in-game money. They’ve traveled together to beaches, cities, Disney, Legoland, and even snow, always favoring meaningful moments over packed itineraries.
Aubrey and Adam have one almost-adult daughter (from Aubrey’s previous marriage, adopted by Adam) and while she can’t carry another baby she and Adam are hoping for another miracle through surrogacy.
If you choose to walk alongside this family, you’ll find people who believe the best relationships are built one ordinary day at a time. They’ll celebrate the little things, laugh at themselves often, and never take the incredible gift of this journey for granted. Most of all, you’ll meet two best friends who are ready to welcome one more person into a life-story already overflowing with love.
