Egg Donor Application Tips

Your egg donor application becomes your egg donor profile and is where Intended Parents (IPs) “meet” you for the first time. Therefore, it is critical to build a profile that is both honest and engaging. In addition to making a good impression, your profile will be the first connection Intended Parents will make with you. Their decision to select you will be based on that special connection. The following are a few things to consider when building your egg donor profile.

Tip #1. Do not be overwhelmed.

Please do not let the application form overwhelm you. Taking it section by section is best. Feel free to come back later to finish your application, but do not put it off too long! We might think you are no longer interested. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you are stuck. Our Donor Education Team is here to answer your questions and guide you through the application/profile.

Tip #2. Honesty is the key.

Do not lie or withhold any information. Intended Parents appreciate the authenticity you represent by sharing everything in your profile. Even something less than stellar does not disqualify you; however, lying or leaving out vital details later will.  The more details you can provide, the better.

Tip #3. Elaborate and give details.

We understand that there are many questions, and you will need time to complete the application thoroughly. Answering with one word will not help Intended Parents connect with you. In fact, a lack of details deters potential IPs. Be sure to elaborate on your answers so you can stand out from other donors they might be considering. You have an opportunity here to show our Intended Parents who you are. Give them a sense of your personality by telling them more about your family, your children- if you have any, your passions, your goals, and what you like and dislike. It is about finding that commonality, that characteristic, that personality, interest/hobby you have in common. Do not be afraid to express yourself.

Tip #4. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Your picture tells your story. The right photos make all the difference. A variety of photos ranging from your childhood up to your present stage gives potential IP’s a better understanding of who you are. Your profile may include photos of family and friends and skills and events of which you are proud. Your profile picture should reflect your natural beauty. You are showing that you are serious by choosing high quality images.  **It is very important to not use filters on your photos.  Intended Parents WANT to see your natural features.  Having filtered photos also gives IPs the impression that the rest of your profile might also be altered and inauthentic.

Tip #5. Review and edit your profile

Review and edit your profile. Check for errors. Ensure that everything on your profile is answered in detail. Proofread your answers.  Our team does not edit your profile in any way, so Intended Parents will see your answers exactly as you type them. Make sure your family health history information is accurate by talking to your parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Extra effort pays off.

Creating your egg donor profile does not have to be stressful. Our website has additional information. Most of our team have been egg donors before. We would be happy to share with you our experience of completing an egg donor application and/or help you learn more about egg donation.
