“We’re Sarine and Sameer… party of two (hoping to become three!)
Hi there! We are a medical couple who met in school over a decade ago, spent four years in a long-distance relationship thanks to residency (bless FaceTime and frequent flyer miles), and finally started building our life together in Texas just in time to spend the pandemic indoors. Like everyone else, we figured out how to make it work, with love, and flexibility. Our biggest COVID achievement: getting married by a Chaplain who worked in Sameer’s hospital that married us in our living room while our families watched over Zoom.
These days, our life feels full in so many ways. I’m an Ob/Gyn with a flexible schedule, and Sameer is a pediatric intensivist and nephrologist who splits his time between the hospital and research. But please don’t worry, we are not looking to add to your list of doctors, we just want to be parents and part of your support team throughout this process. We spend almost all evenings together, which we treasure, and after some career shifts, we’ve found a rhythm that feels like us.
We bought our first home two years ago and began dreaming of what would eventually become the nursery. Our journey to grow our family hasn’t been easy. There have been a lot of hurdles and setbacks. And honestly, working with children and families every day without being able to complete our own has been difficult. But our love for one another continues to grow and we remain hopeful. And that’s where we need your help.
A few other things you might want to know about us.
I (Sarine) love all things crafty, greeting cards, embroidery, Cricut projects, beading, even felting! I listen to audiobooks, tackle jigsaw puzzles, and work out in our little garage gym. Sameer is a gardener (even if we only get one tomato), a runner, and an incredible mentor to his medical students and fellows.
We love to cook, especially dishes from our Armenian and Indian backgrounds. We also love games (Catan, Mario Kart, Scrabble), afternoon coffee experiments, Friday night takeout, and watching the Great British Baking Show, Survivor, and Abbott Elementary together. We LOVE our life together and now, more than anything, we want to add a sweet little one to our home.
