Pride & Parenthood: A Guide for LGBTQ+ Intended Parents on the Journey of Egg Donation and Surrogacy

At Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions, we believe love makes a family—and every family deserves the chance to grow. As we celebrate Pride, we also celebrate the incredible LGBTQ+ intended parents we’ve been honored to support over the years. Parenthood is a journey, and for same-sex couples, egg donation and surrogacy offer a beautiful, empowering path forward.

We’re proud to be endorsed by SEEDS and committed to an ethical, transparent, and compassionate process. Whether you’re just starting your family-building journey or are in the midst of planning, here’s what you need to know—and how we’re here to help.

Why Many LGBTQ+ Couples Choose Egg Donation & Surrogacy

While adoption and fostering are wonderful options, many same-sex couples turn to egg donation and surrogacy because it allows one parent to have a biological connection to the child—and both to be actively involved throughout the pregnancy.

Through this journey, intended parents (IPs) can be part of every step: selecting the egg donor, creating embryos, choosing a gestational carrier, and building a close and lasting bond with the woman carrying their child.

Step One: Choosing Your Egg Donor

For male couples, the journey typically starts with selecting an egg donor. Many IPs look for physical traits that reflect their own families, but emotional connection is just as important.

As one of our couples shared: “Medical history was our number one priority, but it was also neat to see what the donor’s interests were as a child. And we really liked the way she answered the question about what she would want to tell the child in 18 years. Our donor is the complete package.”

Once a donor match is made, she undergoes thorough medical and psychological screening. After legal contracts are signed, she begins fertility medication to prepare for the egg retrieval. Embryos are then created using sperm from one or both intended dads.

Step Two: Matching With a Surrogate

Finding the right surrogate—or gestational carrier—is a crucial and deeply personal step. Most of the intended dads we work with want to be closely involved: attending appointments, celebrating milestones, and building a lasting connection with the woman carrying their child.

Our matching process goes beyond basic compatibility. We take time to understand the personalities, expectations, and preferences of both the intended parents and surrogates to foster a supportive, trusting relationship.

One of our surrogates, Kiely, carried twin girls for Jarett and Jeremy in 2022. She shared:

“We fell in love with them right away. We’ve stayed close ever since—it’s been such a meaningful experience for our whole family.”

A Growing Need for Egg Donors & Surrogates

There are more intended parents than there are qualified surrogates—meaning many hopeful parents wait months to be matched.

By choosing to become an Egg Donor OR Surrogate, you’re not just helping bring a child into the world—you’re changing lives and expanding love.

Our Commitment to You

We walk beside you every step of the way—from the first call to the delivery room (and often long after). Our agency is guided by integrity, compassion, and transparency. We honor every unique journey and advocate fiercely for our intended parents and surrogates alike.

If egg donation or surrogacy is on your heart this Pride, now is a perfect time to take the next step.
