Katy Encalade is the President and CEO of Egg Donor & Surrogate Solutions and a leading voice advocating for ethical practices in the rapidly evolving field of third-party reproduction. With nearly twenty years of experience, she has helped more than 2,000 intended parents grow their families through egg donation and surrogacy while building an agency known for prioritizing transparency, education, and responsible care for everyone involved in the process.
As the fertility industry expands rapidly, Katy is known for addressing the hard questions many avoid, challenging audiences to consider not just how families are created, but what ethical responsibility truly requires of everyone involved.
What sets Katy’s perspective apart is that her authority is not only professional, but also deeply personal. Over the course of her life, she has experienced family building from nearly every angle. She has served as both an egg donor and a surrogate, fostered children in her home, and is a mother of three. These lived experiences have given her a rare understanding of the emotional, relational, and ethical complexities involved in creating families through third-party reproduction.
As the fertility and surrogacy industries have grown rapidly, Katy has become an advocate for transparency, ethical standards, and greater awareness of the long-term needs of donor-conceived people. She previously served as Board Chair of the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS), where she helped advance conversations around responsible practices across the industry, and currently serves on the board of Families Out Loud. She has also contributed to Called to Carry, a devotional that brings together diverse voices and real stories from individuals navigating surrogacy, egg donation, and foster care.
Through her leadership, writing, and public speaking, Katy works to ensure that families pursuing egg donation or surrogacy are equipped with honest information, thoughtful guidance, and ethical pathways to parenthood. At the core of her work is a deeply held conviction: bringing children into the world carries profound responsibility, and protecting the dignity and well-being of everyone involved must remain central to family building.
Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in business and psychology from Dallas Baptist University and lives in Prosper, Texas with her husband and three children.
